April 1 (1 of 30)

1 Apr

Happy April fools day! I have no good pranks to pull, sorry to disappoint.

This morning I woke up early. Clara usually isn’t up at 7am (thankfully), so I decided to get myself out of bed and try to do something fun for myself this morning. A cup of coffee, breakfast, and painting my nails – that sounded about right.

I used to paint my fingernails a different color almost every week. It’s just kinda fun, and I always got comments on the colors (sometimes nice, sometimes not, but whatever). It’s one of those things that I just don’t have time for anymore. Something’s gotta give, right?

But this morning, my fingernails have a shiny new coat of deep purple polish. Woohoo!

After almost 3 months of working out at Forged Fitness doing crossfit, I am finally starting to see some results. Well, maybe that’s not fair. I’ve noticed an improvement in my asthma for a while now, but I’m finally seeing the numbers on the scale change. I was going to head back to the gym again today, but Clara has an appointment at the pediatrician during my normal gym time, and after 2 days in a row up there, I am pretty sore!

Among my favorite accomplishments at the gym is that I can now do a pull up! You know those presidential fitness tests we had to take in grade school? Well, I was the kid who only walked the whole mile and couldn’t do even one pull up. No more! Sue taught me how to “kip”, which is not a reference to Napoleon Dynamite, but rather a way to create momentum to make the pull ups easier. Wednesday I did 38 (!!!!) pull ups!

Yes, I’m bragging. From zero to 38 in 3 months? Not bad, if I do say so myself.

Ah! The mailbox! My dad came up the weekend after the mailbox mishap, and he saved the day! He brought with him a 4×4 post, which he cut down to fit inside the hollow plastic post. Then, with a little super glue, the broken pieces were put back in place, and it looks as good as new! Dad to the rescue!!

This little girl has a gigantic head! According to the pediatrician, she’s in the 90th percentile for head circumference. At 15lb 7oz (35th percentile) and 25.75″ long (50th percentile) they seem to be happy with how she’s growing. We have an appointment in May with the surgeon who will be taking the little spot off Clara’s head. But that’s another post for another day.

Happy Friday, y’all. See you tomorrow.

Cool on the 30 posts/30 days challenge! Maybe I’ll join in…and do a couple of catch up posts.
I’m intrigued by the purple nail polish…I love colors, but always forget to paint my nails.
And–you must share more about the “kip.” I cannot do a pullup to save.my.life. We used to do the SEALS workouts and I would just hang on the pull up bar and whine.
    Love the photos!
